Participate by Not Participating • November 24 & 25, 2006

Every November, for 24 hours, we remember that no one was born to shop, we make a
small choice to participate by not participating. If you’ve never taken part in Buy Nothing Day make this a - 1st!!

It is a stand against Consumerism!

BND is a protest of everything that is wrong with consumerist Western culture.

India -- Buy Nothing Day ! 2006

We are the most hungry

mammals in the world!

A world that could Die..

B' Coz of the way we live

Give it a ReSt!

/\/ 0 \/ -------- 25th------------- BUY /\/ O T H I /\/ G DAY !

The Easy self-destruction

“Our headlong plunge into ecological collapse requires a profound shift in the way we see things. Driving hybrid cars and limiting industrial emissions is great, but they are band-aid solutions if we don’t address the core problem: we have to consume less. This is the message of Buy Nothing Day.” - Kalle Lasn

As Lasn suggests, Buy Nothing Day isn't just about changing your habits for one
day. It’s about starting a lasting lifestyle commitment to consuming less and producing less waste. With six billion people on the planet, the onus is on the most affluent – the upper 20% that consumes 80% of the world’s resources – to begin setting the example.

Reason(S) !

Firstly - This is beyond
reason!

TO buy / consume > we have several reasons!!!

To Appreciate what you have - u don't need a reason!

Reasons for participating in Buy Nothing Day are as varied as the people who choose to participate. Some see it as an escape from the marketing mind games and frantic consumer binge that has come to characterize the holiday season, and our culture in general. Some use it to expose the environmental and ethical consequences of over - consumption & others have their own reasons!

This is a stand against Consumerism. Life is Choking! & the drain is clogged!

Two recent, high-profile disaster warnings outline the sudden urgency of our dilemma. First, in October, a global warming report by economist Sir Nicholas Stern predicted that climate change will lead to the most massive and widest-ranging market failure the world has ever seen. Soon after, a major study published in the journal Science forecast the near-total collapse of global fisheries within 40 years.

Solution

---------

- Spend Less , Think More ! Appreciate! Appreciate! Did i forget to mention Appreciate?!

- Where is your money going?

- Question if goods are avialbale locally!

- Check out the natural, organic Alternatives, sharing, reusing, fair trade, climate-friendly, local community, etc

- Think anout Where your desires come from?

- An economics solution from Glasgow.

Money Reform (sometimes called, Monetary Reform) highlights the fact that our economy today is "debt-based", meaning that virtually all money is supplied into the economy as a debt owed to the private banking system. We are reliant upon this banking system for the supply of almost all our means of exchange. In Britain today, 97% of the money stock is created by this private banking system as a debt, while only 3% is created by the government debt-free. As we explain on this website, that is both a technical absurdity and a democratic offence.

As a consequence of virtually all our money coming into existence as a debt, we see the indebtedness of people, families and countries growing daily. Money Reformers believe the present debt-based system perpetrates debt slavery, and this is destructive of society, the environment and the planet. Money Reformers believe this debt-based money supply is the big issue which governs all the issues.

Money Reformers advocate that the virtual Monopoly of Money Creation must be removed from the private banking system and we work to establish a publicly-created supply of debt-free money, created on behalf of the people, by a public body. This money should be spent, not lent, into society on the basis of proven need. This will gradually reduce the overall burden of debt in society, break reliance upon the private banking system for the supply of money, open potential for change, and empower people democratically. The Money Reformers' proposal is not a left-wing, or right-wing idea. It's just good sense!
